Marriage in Scripture
Marriage in Scripture is a sacred covenant between a man and woman to become “One Flesh,” reflecting God’s divine plan for stable families and committed love. It mirrors Jesus’s union with the Church, where Christ is the loving Bridegroom who sacrificially loves and nurtures His Bride, the Church.
Ephesians teaches husbands to love their wives as Christ loves the Church, and wives to respond with respect, symbolizing mutual devotion and unity. Christian marriage is thus a living sign of Christ’s faithful, self-giving love, calling couples to embody this divine relationship through lifelong commitment, unity, and sacrificial love.
